My Moroccan tagine came in the mail this weekend...a traditional Moroccan way of cooking...it's a delicious way to cook almost anything: meat, pasta, rice, veggies, etc. I'm so excited to use it.

Companion, Sweetie, Explorer
I got some film photos back last week and decided to use them in my next art journal entry. This post is titled as the translation of the Arabic words listed on each photo on the left page of the entry. They are three words that I thought beautifully described Milo. He's my partner on the road, relishing any opportunity for a car ride with his head out that window. He's my little buddy.

Al-Maghreb
My third art journal entry is simply about Morocco as a whole. I saved so many artifacts and took so many pictures that I know there will be several Morocco journal entries with more specific themes. Al-Maghreb is the Arabic pronouncement of Morocco and its literal translation into English means: "Country of the Setting Sun". How beautiful is that. I so dearly miss those early mornings spent in the gardens eating Moroccan pancakes and drinking coffee before a day of work at the Children's Hospital and evening explorations of the city. My one year anniversary is coming up...

Tanzania
My heart is begging me to travel to Africa again...and it seems to be set on Tanzania. I truly believe that I'm meant to spend a chunk of time there. I hope & pray that my career/life finds me there, perhaps with a family of my own. My hopes are that my years of grad school will prepare me to journey across the pond and find stories of people & places waiting to be shared. It is of course in my power to make this dream happen & leaves me feeling certain that my time will come.

Life is a Circus!
My second art journal entry was about the circus. There is something so wondrous, fun, & inspiring about the circus. The costumes, animals, bright colors, etc. It's always been a huge inspiration to me. And the aged idea of running off & joining the circus sounds so appealing...not today of course...years back when you rode by train, traveling city to city and saw the world. Obviously my image of it is much more glorified and glazed over than I'm quite sure it was.
And once again, Arabic makes an appearance. I've been working quite hard on my Arabic script & I just find it so beautiful. I think the word for elephant is magnificent....it's hard to see but is written above each elephant. And the giant portion of Arabic on the bubble gum sign says "circus"...in case you were wondering.
