Long Way Round

I've taken yet another break from "Atlas Shrugged". Mainly because my heart is deeply wanting to roam the world again, so I picked up a book I bought before I left for Morocco called "Long Way Round". It's actually an autobiographical account of actors Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman's motorcycling trip across the world. Literally. They are both big motorcyclers and they'd been dreaming about riding from London through Europe, Russia, hopping a boat across the Bering Strait into Alaska and down through Canada and the U.S. to end in New York City. I mean what a feat. What an adventure. So they tirelessly searched for funding, because apparently they didn't have the money to do something like this (sure surprised me...but I guess, we don't know everything about their "glamorous" thespian lives). So, they eventually were able to find funding and began their 3 month journey across the world. Too cool. It's a raw, quick read and fascinating to hear the odd problems they came across and freeing to feel their moments of gratitude for life through their own words.

Reading about their wild journey led me to post some rougher photos of the drive across Morocco. There really is nothing like setting out on open road, with the windows down, in a van with no AC, in 100 degree weather(no complaining) and just experiencing new land and breathing in the moment, and taking in things you've never dreamed of. Moments like those literally make my insides, my soul, whirl around in my body. It's such an addicting rush. I love it and I hate it because once you realize how incredible this experience is, you can NEVER get enough.
