I found this photo sifting through my old images. It's from 2 Christmas's ago, when the blizzard hit the East coast & I fortunately happened to be in New York. What a beautiful city when coated in snow...
It's not very in keeping with the current Spring weather. Perhaps it will cool you off.

Safari 6: Part One
I went wandering around Richmond a few days ago and found some pretty cool spots. The first few are from a "park" that consisted of walkways and a train track along the river, below several overpasses. It was really weird...but cool.
I'll post more from this outing soon, when I have time to do some editing.

Collections & Dreams
Some time ago I decided I wanted to begin art journaling. This came with the discovery of Dan Eldon, book arts, and my various trips during which I collected and saved everything I came across from museum maps & ticket stubs to beer bottle labels to metro tickets. So finally I bravened up and began my first (hopefully of many) art journals. I made the journal first, something simple, just japanese stab stitching with a mixture of papers inside.
I've been studying & practicing Arabic script and have successfully learned about 15 letters. One of the words I learned with these letters was "rawd" meaning "exploration". So I figured my first entry will revolve around just that.

Monuments, Cupcakes, & Sunshine
Took a trip yesterday to D.C. with my mom & sis since Bec had never been to D.C.! We saw Lincoln, ate some delicious Georgetown Cupcakes, and thrifted. I now have a complete set of dining chairs (4) which I got for a grand total of $20 at the Unique Thrift Store in D.C. It's a pretty awesome place if you have the time to sift through the lines, piles, and alleys of another's unwanted things in this Walmart-sized warehouse. Once I fix my bargain seats up (one of them is, I kid you not, sparkly lime green) I'll post them...if they're worthy.

April in Paris
I've been working on this book for quite a while. I made it for my best friend, who adores everything French, and particularly loves Paris. The pages are glued together and I painted matchboxes gold and cut niches for them in the pages. I still don't feel it's quite finished. But it's been fun.
And if you don't understand what the gnome has to do with Paris....one of my favorite movies is "Amelie". It's a French film & if you've seen it, I'm sure you remember Amelie's father's gnome...if not, than you're missing out on a wonderful movie. One of my personal favorites.
